When A Hitch Hero Won't Fit

Some rigs carry the spare right behind the hitch receiver, and there's no clearance back there for a Hitch Hero. This solves it: a machined aluminum insert that slides into the receiver and gives your soft shackle a smooth, rounded seat on the hitch pin.

It sits almost entirely inside the receiver, so nothing sticks out. Leave it in and wheel with it. It won't drag and it won't catch a rock. Machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum, and sold only as a set with the soft shackle that fits it.

Receiver Set or Hitch Hero?

If your hitch has the clearance, use the Hitch Hero. The Receiver Set is for rigs where it doesn't, like a spare mounted right behind the hitch.

Which size do I need?

Match your hitch. The 2 inch receiver comes with a 7/16 inch soft shackle, and the 2.5 inch comes with a 1/2 inch.

Can I leave it in?

Yes. It sits almost entirely inside the receiver, so it won't drag and it won't catch a rock. Leave it in and wheel with it.

Is the insert metal?

Yes, 6061-T6 billet aluminum. It seats on your hitch pin and gives the soft shackle a smooth, rounded surface to pull against.

Can I buy the insert on its own?

No. It's only sold as a set with the soft shackle that fits it.

What's the soft shackle rated for?

The 7/16 inch soft shackle is rated 41,000 lb MBS and the 1/2 inch is rated 58,000 lb.

What's the warranty, and how long does it last?

The whole set, insert and soft shackle, is backed for life under proper use, within its published service life, which starts the day it's shipped. The soft shackle's service life is ten years stored shaded and dry, five if it lives exposed on the rig. The full rules and the claim process are on the Warranty and Service Life page.

When do I retire the soft shackle?

Slide the sleeve back and look at the strands. Fuzz is normal. Torn strands mean it's done.
